CONTINUING #SHOPSMALL THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS
The upside to 2020 was that many people realized the importance small businesses play in our overall economy and well-being. We saw a huge surge of support from communities for small businesses despite many still having to close their doors. Historically, small businesses were always the way until some companies grew to astronomical sizes and big business and convenience became a way of life around the 50s. Bigger, faster, and cheaper became the way of life for America and other countries for quite some time. Now, we’re seeing a resurgence of the value of shopping locally and from small businesses.
So, how do we keep this going? One way is through partnership strategies for cross-promotion and building communities.
PROMOTING SHOPPING SMALL
Small businesses still need our help. We can promote #ShopSmall all we want, but it doesn’t guarantee new eyes on your business. Partnering with other businesses through creative campaigns can help tremendously. We’ve seen a lot of small businesses partner together for virtual events like a food and wine pairing, cooking class with high-quality spices, and corporate gift baskets with artisan goods. How can large businesses help? Partnering large businesses with smaller ones for things like pop-up shops within their stores can do wonders for both businesses. The small business gets many eyes on their brand, while the large business is seen as supportive and caring for featuring a smaller company with quality products.
BUILDING COMMUNITY
Getting exposure to a partner company’s audience is a very strategic business move. Choosing the right company to partner with can greatly benefit a business. When partnering with another small business, you are getting access to a much more loyal audience than when partnering with a very large business. This will create more of a sense of community around your brand, which means customers will be much more sticky.
On a broader scale, partnerships and promotion amongst small businesses create an atmosphere in which artisans and quality products thrive. Bringing the power back to your neighbors who own businesses creates a wonderful sense of community and camaraderie. This puts a value back on people and quality that can overpower a lot of issues plaguing us right now.
